Chapter 33
“It’s nothing, I got hurt in a car crash,” I tell him casually and he looks at me with unbelief.
“Jen, what the hell?” He speaks in a worried tone.
He tries to take my arm in his grip again so he can get a better look at the wound, but I don’t allow him to.
He lets out a sigh.
“Tell me what happened then.” He says like a parent, and I fight the urge to laugh.
“I was involved in a car crash with Chad a few hours ago,” I say, my voice breaking slightly when I mention my best friend’s name.
“Oh, Jen,” Robert says as he tries to pull me in for a hug, but I push him away.
“Where is Chad now?” He asks me, avoiding the fact that I just pushed him away from me.
“In the hospital,” I say in a small voice.
“I should have been the one. I should be the one in the induced coma right now.” I say and I can’t hold back my tears anymore.
