Chapter 34

“Jennifer Davis.” The person says my full name.

“What are you doing here?” I ask her as I narrow my eyes at her. It’s Naomi, Chad’s ex that he was engaged to.

“I could ask you the same.” She says with a playful shrug.

“Enough of the chit-chat, we need to talk about Chad.” She says and I study her.

Is that really why she’s here to talk? I don’t trust her a bit. I hear the shower stop and I instinctively close the door in Naomi’s face.

“Who were you talking you?” Robert asks me as he walks out of the bathroom with a towel only covering his lower body.

“Uh...no one,” I say as I pretend to be combing my hair with my fingers.

“I’m pretty sure I heard another person talking.” He says as he walks towards the closet to find something to wear.

“You know what? I will be right back.” I say as I open the door of the room. He watches me as I leave the room and I do so smoothly.
