Chapter 64

I hear a beep and I follow the sound. It’s coming from Griffin’s pocket. It may be his phone.

Griffin holds the pistol with one hand as he fishes the phone out of his pocket.

He then looks at the screen and clicks on it.

“Someone is making a call from here.” He says calmly.

“Rose.” Jason drags my name. “What are you not telling me?” He is now so close to me that when he talks, I can feel his warm breath.

I should move but I feel stiffened.

“There is nothing to tell,” I say simply and he raises his hand and brings it close to my face. I flinch slightly when he touches my cheek. His fingers feel calloused and rough.

He rubs his thumb in circles on my face.

“You know, your mother came to my place this morning.” He says in a friendly conversation tone.

He is also staring straight into my eyes. I don’t know whether he is trying to incite fear in me but it does not feel comfortable. I stare back though.
