The little boy did not understand why, but after he had asked for help, the lady had cried.

Children are very sensitive; he immediately assumed that it was his fault somehow. Especially since the man in the wheelchair looked so terrifying. The boy was suddenly very afraid.

Without thinking, she pushed Ethan's wheelchair away and did not look back.

Ethan did not say anything. He let Jane push him away. He had deliberately chosen M County as their destination, it was just that whether they would meet Jane's mother or not depended on fate.
