Ethan stormed off into his study after Toby left. Cassidy tried to go after him but was stopped by the guard standing by the staircase.

“Get out of my way,” she said with gritted teeth, “I’m sure your Young Master would love to know exactly how you treated his soon to be wife.”

The guard let out a mocking belly laugh, “You think I would be scared by your little threats? Well think again. You think because he handed you a ring, it automatically makes you lord over anything?”

Cassidy stood with gritted teeth, glaring at the guard who always tested and infuriated her to no end. He didn’t care about her or anything she did and was not even scared of being reported to Ethan.

“You should be, I can help you lose your job at the snap of a finger, same with the others of your kind. You think you have an opinion but you really don’t, all you can do is stand still, move about and fulfill orders… just like a robot.”
