Chapter 76. I Cannot Give What I Do Not Have
He respected Mary's request, even though it pained him to keep his feelings hidden. The car ride remained quiet, both of them lost in their own thoughts as the rain continued to pour outside.
As they reached Mary's temporary residence, she hesitated before getting out of the car. The weight of her emotions felt almost unbearable, and the proximity to Ethan only intensified her inner turmoil. She turned to him, her eyes searching for answers she wasn't sure she wanted.
“Don’t worry, I won’t tell Sam about this,” he uttered, giving her assurance. Mary put a smile on the corner of her lips while looking at him.
“Thanks for understanding, Ethan. Thank you so much,” she said.
“Where can I drop you?” he asked, not sure if he want to end this trip with her.
“You can drop me at the bus station, Ethan. I’ll handle myself by then,” she answered and Ethan nods his head and focused on the road.
