Once Jane and I had developed our strategy, we quietly tiptoed towards the living room, eager to catch a glimpse of what Ian was up to. To our surprise, he was still there, indulging in drink after drink. It was evident that he had already reached a level of drunkenness that should have impaired his senses.
Jane, sensing the urgency of our situation, pulled me back and leaned in closer to whisper in my ear. "Time is running out," she murmured urgently.
Confusion clouded my mind as I looked at her quizzically, my eyebrows furrowing. "What do you want me to do?" I inquired, my voice laced with curiosity.
