Chapter 36
[Two months later]
Storm was staring hard at the man before him who was explaining to him how he intended to get him a shorter sentence by pleading that he – Storm, that is – was mentally handicapped and had not been in his right senses when he did all these horrible things he did. The man said it was a long shot, but it was worth a try as all the charges that were being filed against him would be enough to sentence a saint for life.
Storm continued staring at him, his eyes not what they had been since he first got here and had been beaten by punks who suggested that he looked too soft, had too much hope, and clung too much to the idea that he would be free anytime soon; all these they said, as they bore down on him with their large fists, the prison was bound to squeeze out of you.
So, yes, he was partly irritated, partly amused by the little man that sat before him spitting off the top the stuff he had memorized in law school, stuff he himself did
