Adam quickly picked up his mobile phone, his eyes glancing at the caller ID on the screen, and a surge of excitement rushed through him.
“Hey, Kaytly, where are you? Why did your phone turn off?”
“Adam, I’m fine. I’m with Xavia right now. I have a few things to take care of, but I’ll be back tonight. Don’t worry about me,” came Kaytly’s gentle voice through the phone, instantly extinguishing the flames of worry on Adam’s face.
It was as if, no matter what happened, Adam felt a sense of reassurance as long as he had her.
“Alright, when you’re back, just give me a call. Do you want me to pick you up?” Adam asked, his tone slightly lonely.
