Chapter 48. Another Among Wolves

Carla paced the length of the living room, the crease between her brows worsening as the minutes ticked by. 

Aria was in a similar state, her nails bitten down to her flesh as they waited for Mark to return from the meeting called by the Alpha of the pack that had rescued them with the settlement.

A meeting both girls were excluded from because they were not "official" members of the pack.  

Carla thought that reasoning was crap after everything they had both been through, but she understood that it was about more than them.  

After years—decades even—the pack was now truly free, with their world finally aware of the horrors they had been going through at the hands of Alpha and Beta. 

They needed to see and hear it from their saviour—that they were truly free.  

But the suspense was killing her, and Carla forced herself to stop pacing before she wore the carpet down to fibres.
