Chapter 47. A Type of Betrayal
A faded blue with rust on most of its body and mismatching side mirrors, their getaway car was the most beautiful eyesore to Carla and Aria, knowing it was going to get them away from their nightmare after so long of dreaming.
Carla worried a bruise into her bottom lip as she tried to process Mark's disturbing report.
"She has to still be in the pack, right?" Aria piped in from the driver's seat.
"Right?" Carla insisted, staring up at Mark demandingly.
"Patrice said Caroline gathered up a few things about an hour before sunrise and left, claiming she was coming to see you," he pointed at Carla in emphasis, just as frustrated with Caroline suddenly turning up missing.
"Then we need to look for her. What if something terrible happened, or she got lost? Or Patrice found out and killed her."
Carla tried to get out of the car, but Mark caught her with a gentle hand grabbing her arm
