Chapter 90. The Quiet After

Despite Emory’s urging that we get married as soon as possible, I want to do this right. I only plan on getting married once, and I’m not going to have a rushed wedding. I’ve been asking her to marry me for months, and I want us to have the wedding of her dreams. Besides, planning a wedding is less stressful than preparing for a war.

A smaller more intimate wedding would have been ideal for us, but we both undestand that our union is a declaration. After centuries of bad blood, a vampire king is marrying a shifter Alpha. This is going to ruffle feathers, and we are going to face everyone opposing our union head on. We’ve fought a literal war to be together, and we know that there will always be people that think our love is an abomination.

As I’m getting ready for the wedding, I feel calmer than I’ve ever been. There’s a sense of rightness to this day that any cold feet aren’t going to ruin. I’m changing into my clothes for the wedding when Le
