Chapter 88. Were Wolves Supposed to Be This Way?
BELLADONNA
The wolf was as tall as an average height person, and just as big. It stepped out of the bush slowly, majestically, but there was a limp in its steps.
Even Raines was so taken aback that all he did was stare.
This wolf was dangerous, but I couldn't look away from it. I couldn't help but be mesmerized by it.
And… and did wolves have mismatched eyes? I've never seen or heard about wolves that have mismatched eyes, and eyes that looked so… intelligent at that. And those eyes were fixed on me.
“Belladonna, run,” Raines whispered, cocking his gun.
The wolf’s eyes moved from me to Raines, and it was like… it was like it had emotions and those eyes hardened. The wolf growled and I felt its vibrations on my bones.
“It doesn't look like it's going to attack,” I said, taking a step forward, slowly, not taking my eyes off the wolf.
“A predator doesn't give a warning before it attacks.”
