Chapter 22. Needed Her Relief
ROSETTE
My guts were screaming I should run. It was screaming danger, and I didn’t feel safe at all. Not from the way Axel’s eyes were glowing or the way he was shaking, his body burning and wet with sweat.
But I couldn’t run, I couldn’t scream. He held me with one hand, covering my mouth with the other hand. And even though he just held me with one, I couldn’t break free from that hold.
“Rosette,” Axel purred, his voice so deep, it was a growl. He leaned in, getting his face close to mine, and he licked my lips, growling like an animal. “Rosette, baby, I’m in pain. I’m in so much pain, baby.”
My shaking stopped and I really looked at him, and I finally noticed his body was shaking, shaking so hard it was like he was convulsing. And the way his body was burning couldn’t be normal.
“What’s wrong?” I asked with his hand still covering my mouth.
