Chapter 73

Jason

The moment I saw Eve letting go of my hands and falling to the floor, my heart sunk, and I felt my world crumble.

“Eve!!!” I screamed her name and the crowd kept talking and yelling.

Everybody was confused and everything was in shambles and chaos.

This was supposed to be a great moment. My moment.

I felt a tear slip down my face, but I knew this wasn’t the time to be crying. Especially not with Eve on the floor.

“Call an ambulance, Jade!” I yelled, even when I could see him fumbling with his phone.

I held Eve to myself as the confused crowd took pictures of us.

I’m betting the next thing that would be on the news is—Girl faints from grand proposal. Or something similar, perhaps.

It wasn’t until five minutes that the ambulance arrived.

They put Eve on the stretcher and asked me to follow them to the hospital.

On my way to the hospital, I kept praying to God to just let her survive whatever this is.
