Chapter 35
Detective Jack Cooper trotted behind his partner, Detective Mia Martinez, their steps fast-paced and calculative. They were heading to the forensic unit of the police station. There, the monochrome hand gloves that Detective Cooper had worn to shake hands with Me. Sanchez Miller would be analyzed for the fingerprint it had caught.
The doors opened from the inside to receive them as they approached. The beeping of electronic machines and the blinding lights of the room caused them both to squint their eyes as they entered.
Mia rushed forward, holding the plastic bag that contained the monochrome hand gloves in one hand while her other hand held her cell phone. There were police officers scattered all over the place, each working on something they’d been assigned to.
Mia walked over to Officer Owen Hunter, the head of the forensics department and the only man he could trust to deliver a perfect job. The others were just too clumsy for her liking.
