Chapter 15. Inadequate Transformation
“You needed to focus the energy of your body and connect with your inner wolf,” he instructed. “Imagine your muscles relaxing, your fur returning to its original texture, and your claws retracting into your skin.”
As I listened to his words, a feeling of unease washed over me. It was unsettling to imagine the claws that had once torn into my flesh retracting back into me. As if he could read my mind, he said, “Hunf, you must not let the fear of pain control you.” The wolf growled harshly, making me jump. “Being afraid of pain is the same as being afraid of life itself. Don't focus on the possibility of pain; focus on who or what you really want to be.” He moved even closer, nuzzling my face like a gentle caress, and ran his paw gently down my body. “Do you feel that?”
