“For now, Alpha, I'll settle for that,” the beast retreated in my mind. I sighed, looking at the human sleeping in my arms. I pulled her by the hips, brushing my skin against hers and burying my nose in her silky hair.
Sophie shifted in bed, turning towards me, her bright eyes staring at me with a subtle glow, her face uniquely flushed in a way that excited me just to look at it. She was beautiful, and I have remained fascinated by her beauty since I first saw her transform into a hybrid!
“Can't sleep?” I whispered, stroking her hair.
“The beast...” she commented, still a bit confused. “Was it here?”
“No,” I lied, sensing her apprehension. Keeping our gazes, I realized she was looking for some reaction that would give her away.
“I felt your beast's fear as if it felt so lonely and then filled!” Sophie rubbed her eyes, opening her mouth. “Was it a dream?”
