Warren stood ready at the doors, entire body tense like a coiled spring. I had no doubt that he’d fight to the death to keep me safe, but I did worry about his ability compared to the others. I understood he was my last ditch attempt at safety.

“They really are all over the damn place.” Paxton shoved one of the dressers in front of the long windows. “This won’t do much, but I’ll do what I can. I don’t understand why there are so many of them. Too many people hated Dominic for this to be a revenge killing. Did you wolves get involved with something else?”
