I stared at the cold food in front of me, my appetite long gone. Mia hadn’t answered my questions, and now the door opened, revealing Kellan. He looked sharp, but I averted my gaze.

“Are you going to punish yourself by not eating anything?” Kellan asked calmly, as if nothing had happened between us. He took my hand, and though I didn’t pull away or look him in the eyes, I felt exhausted. All I wanted was a happy life.

“Eat,” Kellan said. “For the child in your womb.”

“You don't care about me, only about the child who will secure your place as Alpha,” I snapped. Kellan stared at me blankly.
