Chapter 48. The Time Has Come
There’s a breeze in the air as I stand at the border of the pack I used to call home. I close my eyes and lift my nose to the air, but there are no scents. I guess they really think I’m stupid. They are keeping everyone away, so I would think that I’m sneaking in. I’m sure warriors are waiting in the trees and along the border. I know they won’t touch me because I’m sure the goal is to get me to the house. I’ll play along for now, but only because it amuses me.
I step across the border and stop for a second. Just as I figured, absolutely nothing. There’s no way they left things this open after our attack. I know they aren’t that stupid, but they want me to be. They how no idea who they're dealing with, but they will soon learn.
I leisurely make my way to my family home. Nothing has changed since I’ve been gone, though I’m not really sure what I expected. It just feels like I’ve been gone so long, and so many things have changed for me, specifically.
