Chapter 121
Ares POV
I check my phone again, still waiting for my call. I need to know what the next steps will be, but of course, I’ve got nothing. I put my phone back in my pocket and look out at Akia. She’s still lying on the couch. Her face is scrunched up, making me wonder what she’s dreaming about.
I stop pacing and close my eyes. I reach out to Adolf, but I still come up short. It isn’t like I’m hitting the type of barrier that we put up between each other. It’s like he isn’t even there. If I didn’t know better, I’d think that he was removed from me, but that’s impossible.
I sigh and open my eyes, not knowing what to do at this point. It feels weird being without the other part of me. I feel empty and a bit lost. I need him because when Akia wakes, it will be time to mark her, and I can’t do that without Adolf.
