Akia POV

I stash the phone, trying to keep my composure as Ares pounds on the door. I check my face in the mirror, trying to make sure that I can pass looking unfazed. I turn off the water and grip the door handle. I quickly unlock the door and pull it open to find Ares with anger all over his face and his fist raised in the air. “What’s wrong?” My voice sounds weak, but maybe that’s just me. I hope that’s just me.

“I was calling your name! What have you been doing in here?” I want to cower in the corner. I want to cry and scream. I won’t do any of that because I’m sure that I would give myself away.

We need to get out of the bathroom before he hears something on the phone. He’s an Alpha, so his hearing is even better than ours. Bree makes a good point. I gather the tattered pieces of my courage and push past Ares, out of the bat
