“I don’t think I’ve ever told you this… but… but I’m sorry because I feel like I was such a worthless friend when we were kids… because… because I left you,” Tate’s voice cracked, his words faltering. “But, I promise… I did everything I could to convince Dad to stop his plans to take us abroad… because… because I didn’t want to leave.”
I wiped my tears as I continued listening to him. I was crying because I had no idea he had been affected this deeply too. All I knew back then was that Kade was the one who struggled the most, while Tate… well, he wasn’t exactly okay, but he seemed to be handling things better than Kade.
But, come to think of it… people who don’t talk much, the ones who aren’t used to communicating their feelings, they’re the ones who end up hurting the most.
