“Our exchange gift… can we do it tomorrow night instead?” I asked casually as we walked out of the hospital toward the parking lot. Tate had brought his Jeep Wrangler, so naturally, we’d ride with him instead of taking a bus or public transport.

“I was just about to suggest the same thing,” he said with a laugh, shaking his head. “You haven’t bought anything yet, have you?” he asked, raising an eyebrow.

I chuckled and nodded, admitting it easily.

“That’s okay. At least we have more time to think about what to get each other,” I said, trying to justify it. Both of us had been busy, so it was understandable that neither of us had picked anything out yet. And honestly, I still had no idea what to give him.

“Yeah,” he agreed with a grin, twirling the keys to his car in his right hand absentmindedly.
