As soon as Lee flopped onto her bed in frustration, her phone buzzed with a notification. She shot upright, grabbing her phone instantly, and of course, curiosity got the better of me, so I leaned in to see what it was.
Finally—Zac had sent her a proper New Year’s greeting. At last.
“Oh, happy now?” I raised a brow, smirking at her, and she rolled her eyes dramatically in response.
“I’m not opening it just yet. I don’t want him thinking I’ve been waiting around for his message the whole time and that I saw it the second he sent it,” she muttered, clutching her phone like it had personally betrayed her.
“Yeah, sure. Makes sense. Maybe wait a good five minutes before replying, just to be safe,” I teased, playing along with her logic.
