When the nurse and doctor arrived, summoned by Damon, they immediately began checking me. They asked me a series of medical questions, took my vitals, and examined several parts of my body—my arms, sides, and back—looking for any bruises or signs of complications that might have emerged during my prolonged sleep.

The conversation with the doctor and nurse stretched for several minutes. I suspected they were Kate’s regular medical team since they knew me by name. Of course, I had to pretend I recognized them too, playing along as if I were Kate.

I avoided calling them by any names or terms like “nurse” or “doc.” From the way they interacted with me, it seemed Kate was on a first-name basis with them. I didn’t want to make a mistake that might raise suspicion—or worse, make them think my long sleep had somehow affected my memory.

As they spoke, I kept sneaking glances at the clock on the wall. From what I remembered, it was around 5 PM when I woke u
