Chapter 313. New People
LEE
After the stabbing incident with Dylan, Mommy and Daddy were overwhelmed with worry for me. Beyond that, I could see the anger and fear etched into their expressions, and truthfully, I didn’t know how to comfort them. I’d only been here for less than two weeks, and I wasn’t really Kate—the daughter they’d raised—so I didn’t know them well enough to know how to calm them down.
“If we could, we’d take you back to Parkertown right now and never let you return to Milano!” Daddy exclaimed, running his hands over his face in frustration as he paced back and forth in front of me. I sat on the couch in my dorm room, watching him helplessly.
Mommy leaned against the wall, staring at me with concern while massaging her temples.
“What if… what if we hire bodyguards for her? And for her friends?” Mommy suggested, letting her hands drop from her head as she spoke.
“I… we… we don’t need that, Mommy, Daddy,” I said quickly, my voice shaking but determined.
