Chapter 49. See You, I Guess?

ASHER

“Asher, you’re disturbing me, eh,” Lee scratched her head as she sat on her bed and faced me. “If your gossip isn’t worth it, I’m really telling you!” She pointed at me with her finger and bit her lip out of frustration. “I’m so sleepy, and it looked like I was having a nice dream too!” she added in complaint.

I just laughed at her slightly and shook my head.

“What… what happened to you? Why are you so sweaty?” She frowned. I didn’t answer her right away so that I could tell my story all at once.

After a few seconds, when she seemed to be done complaining, I began to tell her my story.

I told her what I had started doing five years ago—biking to Tate’s old house at night whenever I felt like I missed him or Jackson and Dylan. I also told her that each time I went, no one was there, and sometimes they had just left, and I didn’t catch them. I also told her that tonight, I finally found someone at the house, and it was Tate’s father.
