Chapter 39

Yana’s POV

Shane’s health has improved, but she is not completely recovered yet; she is still feeling somewhat unwell.

To avoid running into John, Shane and I left the dorm early together and made our way to school. Currently, we are sitting in our classroom, which is relatively empty since it is still early in the day and only a few students have arrived.

When I noticed Matthew enter through the back door, I was about to approach him, but Shane stopped me. Confused, I asked Shane why, and she motioned for me to return to my seat, shaking her head subtly to indicate that approaching Matthew should be avoided for now.

I could not help but gaze at Matthew as he sat down at the desk next to mine. His face bore a profound sadness, devoid of the cheerfulness and vitality that used to define him.

Feeling a deep sense of remorse, I let out a heavy sigh. I felt truly sorry for him, as I knew that my actions were the cause of his current state.
