Chapter 116. Breaking the Ice

Roxanne’s brows rose to her forehead in disbelief. That was not what she expected to hear.

Out of everything she had expected to be weighing on Lance’s shoulders, this...this was unexpected.

“What?” She finally managed to utter after a few seconds of pin drop silence had gone by.

“During the time that your parents were involved in the accident, my father had gone to visit the judge and gave him a huge sum of money to close the case. It’s possible that he did that to protect Cluade Cube. I’m not sure yet, but I’m still investigating it.” Lance continued on, making sure that his gaze did not meet with that of Roxanne’s confused and disbelief ones.

Roxanne’s lips parted as she tried to find the words to say, but nothing came out.

It felt like a brick had suddenly been dropped on her and She wanted to believe that Lance was lying, but after what he had said to her, the way he had pleaded for her not to hate him and the way he was currently reacting, she kne
