Chapter 47

(Lena's POV)

"The dungeons? Was this the best you could do?" The woman asked Damien, who had a small smirk on his face.

"Consider this, my little act of kindness." He responded sarcastically, and the woman snorted.

"You said my mother sent you?" I asked, and the woman nodded to that. "Where is she?" I questioned.

"That I cannot tell you," she said unapologetically.

I felt a spike of pain in my chest thinking about my mother. Maybe Damien was right, and we should have never let this woman/messenger —or whoever she thought she was in here. For many years, I had suffered and gone through hell at the hands of my ex-parents.

I wondered where my true mother was; I did believe she had died, or just as Felicia said, 'wondered away', but no, she was alive; she knew where I was; she knew everything; and yet, she had stayed away, all this time till now, and she doesn't even think I am important enough to come by herself; she had to send someone.
