I had wanted to return to Lena; she hadn't been doing well lately, and I might have to involve a pack doctor. Her health was a major concern of mine, but Diego was my beta; it wouldn't hurt to check up on him real quick.

"I think I should check up on him."

"He is in the bar; that's where he spends his nights," Nate said, and a surge of pity filled me. We might not be as close as we once were, but that didn't make me see him any less than family.

I walked into the bar alone. Diego was seated there with Isis by his side; she looked... different, more vibrant than ever, even if her pink hair was gone. I had walked in on them making out. I couldn't help but worry; that was very unlike Diego. Was he doing this to get his mind off things, or was this the reason for the rejection? I doubted it; Diego had waited so long for a mate, he loved her, and he was very capable of controlling himself.
