Chapter 3

(Lena’s POV)

How could a person be so beautiful and yet so scary?

Alpha Damien stared at me with furious eyes. He was furious. I understood why everyone feared him, there was something about him, something that screamed danger. His eyes were as dark as his own soul, the darkness loomed over him and I shivered in fear.

“Why did you run away?” he asked, his voice filled with authority and I almost bare my neck, it was a struggle to stand there, right before him. He looked quite younger than a werewolf in his early thirties, but every inch of him spoke of the true man he was, he was dress in all black tuxedo lined with gold – the only colour on him.

“I am sorry Alpha” I apologised, eyes low, submissive, just as my mother had said but it would be a slap to her face and our pack to discover I attempted to escape my own wedding and I’m sure by now they all knew. He could kill me for this, if he could kill his own mate, what would he do to me. I couldn’t help but wonder if death was better than a life with this beautiful monster.

“Walk” he ordered and I obeyed, following him to his car, of course I wasn’t foolish enough to wait expecting him to pull open the door for me, he was anything but a gentleman. I sat at the back as he drove back to the posh hall where our wedding was taking place, we exchanged no words, but all through the nerves were eating me up, seating alone with him caused a rumble in stomach, it wasn’t exactly butterflies, just more nerves.

He took my hands, his hold wasn’t gentle either, possessive - that’s what it was and he led me down the aisle, not caring that my father was supposed to be doing this instead of him.

Everyone stared at me, of course they all knew, my father looked furious, but that was the least of my worries now, what scared me was the look in Alpha Damien’s eyes, I knew I would be punished for this and what better way to punish me than on our wedding night.

The ring on my finger was a weight I could never ignore.

I had to engage the guest in light conversations after my wedding ceremony, thanking them for being here, they all knew my smiles were fake, a part of me was stalling for time, when this was all over I would be alone again with Him, everything seemed to be moving fast... too fast. My parents were the last to walk up to me.

My mother’s disappointed gaze settled on me. “Congratulations, Alpha Damien” she said to him, putting on a smile. Damien only gave her a nod, no response. My father stretched out his hands for a handshake but Damien had his hands in his pocket and didn’t bother returning my father’s ‘warm gesture’. My father’s hands dropped to his side, he tried harder to leave the smile on his face, of course this union or whatever it was, was all to my parents advantage, they needed this more than Damien did.

“This is not what we agreed, Tony, you promised to give me a mate, not a scared child”

“I can assure you...” my father said with a nervous laugh, “What happened here wouldn’t repeat itself, Right Lena?” he asked, his eyes drifting to me, I knew the consequences of silence and I had to speak up.

“Yes, father. I apologise”

“Feel free to punish her, if she disobeys, she could take a hit or two” my father said and mother nodded in agreement. I held back my sob, sure that there were many ears listening in right now, I couldn’t help but notice Damien’s hard glare, directed at my parents.

“She is my mate now, I’ll do to her as I please, you don’t need to tell me what to do with my Luna”

“Of... of course” My father stuttered out, “If you would excuse us” he said taking mother’s hands and they both scurried away, afraid of him and yet they had so conveniently handed me over to him.

None of them casted one last glance at their daughter, their only child, none of them cared about the fact that they might never see me again and just maybe I didn’t want to ever see them again, they didn’t deserve to be called parents.

I froze when I felt Damien’s lips on my ear.

“I will punish you for your little stunt” he promised, whispering it to me low enough that only I could hear it. A cold shiver rippled through me.

~

Much too soon I was back in a black limousine, heading back to his pack, my new pack. My heart wouldn’t stop racing, being so close to him, knowing he could just kill me if I made him uncomfortable, there was a driver also in the car, but that gave me very little sense of protection, this was the moment I dreaded.

Then his hands trailed up my thigh and I inhaled, struggling to stay in place, would he just take me here, right here in the car and discard me?, so many questions running through my mind, so many questions, all left unanswered.

All my life, I had dreamt of what it would be like when I finally found my mate, the moment I would lose my virginity to him, but here I was with Alpha Damien and his eyes held no promises of being gentle.

~~

We arrived at his pack by sun down. The Blood Moon pack.

Everything about this pack was better than my pack- my previous pack, but despite the elegant building, three times bigger than ours, it did nothing to calm down my nerves, this was a strange place for me, here I had to start over, I wouldn't be Lena, the daughter of the Alpha, I would be anything he wanted me to be and the thought made me feel helpless.
