She realized she was in the wrong and that the previous time she had lied to the kids had resulted in this current predicament. 

But she was in a pickle at the time. She didn't know how to deal with this family after her new affair with Miguel. But now that her shamelessness was high, and she was filled with ambition, none of that matters. 

She didn't have any children of her own yet, but she didn't mind learning how to care for them now that Miguel's children were flinging themselves at her.
