Emily’s POV
I didn’t even wait until we were out of sight of Alex.
My blood was boiling, my throat tight with all the words I’d been swallowing for too long.
“Unbelievable,” I spat, dragging Jace by the arm as we rounded the corner. “Absolutely unbelievable. Did you hear him? Did you hear the way he talked to me?”
Jace didn’t answer right away, just let me pull him down the block, his hand resting lightly over mine like he was grounding me.
“I mean, seriously!” I threw my hands up, spinning to face him. “First it was Ava. Oh, Emily, why didn’t you tell me Ava was doing this behind my back? Then Ezra, why didn’t you warn me about him, Emily? Like somehow I’m supposed to have a crystal ball telling me everyone’s intentions before they act.”
“Emily…” Jace started, but I cut him off, too full of rage to stop.
