Xavier's Pov
My life was always distracted by the rightful bride, whom I felt was supposed to be mine. My heart refused to listen even though I knew it was not the correct time to act on my feelings.
I was never one to forgive easily, but with Sansa, all her mistakes seemed to fade away. I wanted to protect her despite her rebellious character and the issues she produced.
However, my curse made it impossible to keep her close while staying away from her. I couldn't resist her draw, even though it put me in danger.
I tried to walk away as the door opened, but my gaze was drawn to Amara, who seemed concerned about my well-being.
"Are you all right?" she inquired, her eyes filled with real concern.
"Better now," I said, avoiding eye contact.
Amara looked at me for a time, as if she was thinking about something.
"What?" I inquired when her gaze was fixed on me.
