“Very good. What is next, Darcy?” He rolled his eyes at her, acting as if he was getting bored.
“If you are going to be like this, then I will go,” Darcy snapped, standing and pushing the chair back.
His hand shot out and grasped her wrist, giving a quick tug that brought her towards him with a rush.
“If you do, I will get up and go to the company,” he threatened. “Sit close to me, Darcy. “I want to hold your hand.”
Darcy was sitting on the bed, her hand in his before she could catch a breath, and he smiled up at her. “Now you can talk.”
“I don’t know what to say now,” Darcy said nervously, as being close to him made her blush.
“Bedrooms frighten you?” he asked softly. He relented when she looked as if she wanted to run. “Are you all right? You were not injured in the fire, right?”
