Chapter 286

“He slipped and fell coming down those dreadful outside stairs, Darcy explained. “The stairs are old and caused the accident, although we don’t know exactly how it happened, but Dr James seems to think he had a miraculous escape.”

Darcy walked inside the manor with Racheal explaining to her about his injury omitting the part about the fire She was not sure if Gale wanted them to know about it as the fire was under control and no one was hurt except for Gale.

“Was that Gale, Rachael?” Miranda  Harris called from the direction of the dining room. “Dinner is almost ready Rachael.” Rachael slipped her hands into Darcy’s; gripping it tightly as they went towards the door. 

“It’s Darcy, Mother,” she said calmly. “Gale’s had a fall at the factory and they’ve had to send for Dr James, but they’re bringing him home as fast as they can. Will you speak to Darcy while I go to the guest  room as we can’t allow him to stay upstairs until we confirm that he is fine
