I slipped my finger beneath the flap of the envelope, breaking the seal with a quiet, crisp tear. My hands trembled so violently I nearly dropped the folded sheet of heavy cream paper inside.
Unfolding it, I was met by lines of dark blue ink—slanted, hasty, and written in a hand that was unmistakably mine, yet belonged to a woman I was only just beginning to remember.
My breath hitched in my throat as I began to read.
