Chapter 40. Say No More

“No one is killing anyone tonight,” Daryl said, grinning.

Mia rushed to check on Dave. “Are you okay?” she asked.

Dave pants slowly. “I will live.” He has never seen Daryl but could easily make a guess it was Rick’s brother, Daryl. He raised his eyes toward Daryl, wondering why he saved him but said nothing to him.

“Have you gone nuts?” Rick lashed out. He can’t believe his brother just stopped him from killing someone. This isn’t the Daryl he knew. “Try to stop me again, and it will be you instead.” He threatened.

Daryl couldn’t let him take any step toward Dave. He blocked Rick and shoved him backward. “You will not touch him!” he frowns.

Rick gnawed. “Screw you!”

“Both of you stop!” Mia yelled. Scowling at them, she looked confused, too. ‘Why will Daryl save Dave? This isn’t Daryl.’ She moved closer to Daryl. “I know you didn’t save Dave out of the goodness of your heart. What’s the catch?”
