As I stood at the head of the conference table, I felt a sense of satisfaction wash over me. The evidence against Kevin Phipps was damning, and I had made sure that every senior agent in the room was fully briefed on the details. Just then, the door to the conference room opened, and Elera walked in, her eyes meeting mine briefly before she took her seat at the back of the room. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of anger and betrayal as I looked at her. However, I forced myself to focus on the task at hand and began to outline the details of my intel.
“As you can see from the evidence I’ve gathered, Phipps was in direct contact with one of the kidnappers who escaped arrest,” I explained, pointing to the screen as a series of incriminating messages flashed across it. The senior agents in the room looked impressed, nodding as I spoke. But Elera remained quiet, her gaze fixed firmly on the table in front of her.
