I waited anxiously in his car, checking his watch every few seconds. It was almost time for Kevin Phipps, the wealthy and powerful senatorial candidate, to arrive for our meeting. I had to get the evidence I needed to bring Phipps down for his involvement in the kidnapping of Senator Grant’s daughter.
As Phipps’ car pulled into the parking lot, I took a deep breath and exited his car, approaching Phipps’ vehicle with a confident stride. I was disguised as one of Phipps’ accomplices, wearing a hoodie and a pair of dark sunglasses.
“What the hell happened?” Phipps demanded, his face contorted with anger as he stepped out of his car.
I remained calm and collected, knowing that I had to play his part perfectly. “It wasn’t my fault,” I replied, keeping his voice low. “The girl was more trouble than she was worth. We couldn’t keep her contained.”
