I feel myself growing softer and warmer inside the longer I stare at them both. "All right. I'm not holding that against you," I tell Ben, approaching her to bid farewell with an embrace. "Have a safe drive and enjoy your dinner." I led her to the front entrance.

She turns to face me, and I give her a puzzled expression. "I can see why she has you all wrapped around her finger," she says, spinning her keys with her finger. "Just make sure you and your buddies don't ruin your friendship with her. She's the cutest thing ever."

"Now that I've got her, you think I'm letting her go?" I say firmly.

"I'll be damned if I let Via slip away. She's mine."

"Bless her soul, Jesus, and never mind. She'll never let go of the others or you," Ben says, twirling her finger around the keys. "Hell, I might have to snatch her up and run before you end
