Chapter 16. Smart & Sexy

I hand her the essay, and she checks it, her brow furrowing slightly. Her paper had a few fixes, but it wasn't too bad.

"It just needs some work," I say, shrugging, my voice tinged with mild disappointment.

She turns to Kol, maybe to talk about the essay, but then stops, her gaze freezing on him for a moment. She slowly goes back to her laptop, her fingers tapping the keys with a hint of nervousness.

Her face gets serious, her lips pressing into a thin line.

What happened between her and Kol? Why aren't they talking? Why does she seem so sad?

"I'll do better," She starts typing on her computer, her voice tinged with determination, her eyes focused intently on the screen.

I look at Justin and Kol, and they both shrug, their expressions unreadable.
