I was a first-rate liar.

First, I convinced Hazz not to say anything in the presence of my mother about the dinner I had attended without him. Then I convinced my mother that she was keeping me only at the hotel all the time with Hazz.

Neither of them realized that I had my own reasons for that. My mother didn't agree with that facade relationship I had with Nicolas, and Hazz would probably resent the lie by understanding that he would never be enough to be with me. It was true.
