Chloe’s POV

“It’s illegally obtained,” she replied calmly. “If you walk into that board meeting and drop this on the table, they’ll ask how you got it. Once they realize you broke into a private residence, everything shifts. You become a criminal.”

The room felt smaller.

“So what am I supposed to do?” I asked, my voice cracking slightly. “Just sit there and let them jail me?”

“I didn’t say that,” she said quickly.

I paced again, the relief I had felt minutes ago dissolving into frustration.

“It’s one day left,” I whispered. “One day.”

Mia thought for a moment, then her expression changed.

“You didn’t get this,” she said slowly.

I frowned.

“What?”

“You didn’t get this. It was sent to you anonymously.”

I stopped pacing.

She stood up and moved toward my laptop.

“If this appears in your inbox from an untraceable source, and you present it as something you received anonymously, you distance yoursel
