Chapter 18

Kate

I’m feeling a little bit nervous this morning. Finals are starting today, and as much as I’m excited to be done with high school, I’m also worried about the exams. It would be the toughest we’ve written so far. Studying with James has been quite helpful, but this is no common school test. Failing this exam could mean an extra year before going to college. I shake the thought away from my head, completely dreading the idea of spending an extra year in school. I’m sitting on the bed, trying to study a bit more before I get ready for school when I hear a knock on my door. My mom comes in with a parcel in her hand.

“This was delivered to you,” she says, standing as she waits for me to open it. I pull out the little note attached to the parcel and read it.

“Good luck with your finals, my love, trust me you’ve got this. I can’t wait to celebrate with you when it’s all over. I love you,

James.”

I’m literally grinning right now, while my mom stares at me.
