Chapter 21. Dare

Hearing only silence from Laurene, Scarlett knew that what she said shocked her future mother-in-law. She stood up and walked back in front of Laurene. “I warned you last time we talked. I’ll repeat it.” A malicious smile formed on her lips. “You should treat me well. Try to get along with me because Dylan and I will marry one day. Don’t waste your time trying to meddle. You’ll never win against me, Mother-in-law.”

Laurene stood. Pointing to the doorway, she yelled, “Get out!”

Pouting, Scarlett replied, “What did I tell you? Don’t shout at me, Laurene. You said my future husband isn’t here, so I’ll get going now.” She was about to kiss Laurene on the cheek before leaving, but Laurene moved her face away.
