Chapter 16. Awake

Sophia's POV

My whole body felt numb. I cannot even lift a finger, as it feels too heavy. I'm so tired. This much is expected, I guess. Considering I literally almost died.

The last thing I remembered was Carter's face, which had failed to keep his usual cold and nonchalant expression. A small reaction from him, huh? Not bad. My lips formed a little grin, as I failed to suppress a smile.

As I slowly opened my eyes, I looked around to see white walls surrounding me. This feels like deja vu, me lying down on a bed after getting attacked. I hoped I wouldn't get used to this, though.
