Chapter 4
She looked at him, hoping to see him sleeping, but all she found was him staring at her.
“Oh shit,” she whispered, so she got out of bed and changed into pajamas, cursing the thought of sleeping with Mahlon.
He cackles as she gives him a bewildered look.
“Mr. Brown, what makes you laugh?” she asked, looking at him.
He rises and walks over to her.
“Are you scared, Anna?” Mahlon inquired.
“It’s only that no one has ever seen me naked.” She said this while covering her face.
“I asked someone to help with your clothes since I didn’t want to disturb your sleep,” he said dejectedly.
She smiled shyly, unsure who it may be because she was the only one in the house when he went to work.
He looked at her as if he understood what she was thinking.
“It’s my housekeeper, and she’s making breakfast for you,” he said.
She approved with a nod of her head.
She showered and changed into new clothing, which Mahlon had provided for her; she had no idea how he knew her size, yet everything looked familiar, and she was unconcerned about it.
Following her shower, Anna discovers that the table has been set, and Mahlon Brown has already taken a seat and is enjoying his dinner.
“You took a long time,” he observed.
She sat down beside him and began eating dinner with him.
Mahlon went to work after lunch, leaving Anna alone in the penthouse.

Anastasia stayed until Mahlon arrived home from work; she was surprised to see him there so early. She is not one of those people who leaves without informing others.
Anna excused herself as soon as Mahlon came, claiming that she had to go to work in the evening.
Mahlon remained silent because he was previously aware of her schedule and knew that she had no class in the evening.
“Before you leave, I have a question for you,” Mahlon adds.
Anna replied, “Yes, I’m listening.”
“Have you accepted my marriage proposal?” he asked her.
Anna was enraged. “Why would he ask such a question now?” she murmured to herself.
Anna gave him a silent smile while she thought about it.
Mahlon was puzzled by her silence and didn’t want to annoy her any longer.
They exchanged stares for a few moments before Mahlon broke the silence.
“Whenever you need someone to talk to, I am here for you,” Mahlon began.
“I should probably get going,” Anna replied.
“Okay, let me escort you,” Mahlon said.
“It’s fine; I know my way out,” she replied.
Mahlon stared at the gullible lady he was attempting to persuade, but she was gullible. Mahlon rushed out of the penthouse without giving her a chance to speak.
Anna was led into a private parking space as she walked behind him. When Mahlon grabs her wrist and pulls her to his car, she is frightened by his sudden action, but before she could say anything, he lets go of her wrist and opens the door for her.
The ride back to the house was peaceful; they did not have much to talk about.
Anastasia merely desired to return home and retire to her room.
Mahlon pulled up at Anastasia’s house right away, and Anna was in a hurry to get out of there without saying anything.
Mahlon was quick to respond and grabbed her wrist.
Anna moaned in agony but didn’t say anything. They exchanged stares until Anastasia said, “You should not disclose our engagement to the public.”
Mahlon agreed with a nod and left Angel’s villa. He drove away after letting go of her wrist.
Anastasia was greeted warmly by her parents and August, her younger brother; as soon as she entered the house, it was like they had been waiting for her.
Her parents rarely gave her a friendly smile unless they were benefiting from her actions.
Her father, Francis Angel, is a busy man; if he isn’t out of the country, he’s in his study scheming methods to get the gold in the country without the authorities noticing.
He has a gold-dealing enterprise in Africa, where he has invested and hidden the money he stole throughout his term.
Lauren Angel is in charge of her husband’s finances. She only worked as an accountant for two years before deciding to work as her husband’s accountant and advisor.
They have been waiting for Anastasia all day at home, and seeing her emerge from Mahlon’s black Bentley brought a smile to their faces; they were stepping away from securing her future under Mahlon’s protection.
August was the first to speak, “so tell us about it.” He said.
“August, you naughty child,” Lauren groaned, but that didn’t stop him from asking his sister more questions.
“Tell me about your first night with him,” he said with a smirk on his face.
“Sorry, honey, I’m sure you’re exhausted,” Francis responded before Anastasia could say anything.
Anastasia gave a nod and walked upstairs to her room.
“I don’t see how Dad was able to run this country for ten years, yes, ten years. I’ll even excuse the fact that he was once addressed as “Mr. President.” She murmured to herself as she reached her room.
When Anastasia logged into her web chat, she discovered a slew of messages from her friends discussing Gilbert Green.
Gilbert Greens’ birthday party was coming up in a few days, and he explicitly invited us.
Liz texted the ladies, asking them to meet at the cafeteria to go shopping later on.
Anastasia was the last to arrive, and as soon as she did, they went to the nicest store in the country.
The store only had a few customers because most individuals in the business sector shop at high-end stores.
Liz remarked, “Look, the snake is here.”
When the ladies walked in, Eden noticed them, pretended she hadn’t seen them, and decided to have their attention.
“Darling, how about this one?” Eden asked Mahlon, who just nodded his head in approval.
Anna was enraged as she observed Mahlon’s happiness.
Mahlon didn’t pay much attention to the ladies and ignored them; he later returned to his seat.
The ladies decided to go to another store away from Eden Blue.
“Eden is a snake and the Queen of the City; I have no idea what Mahlon sees in her,” said Liz as they made their way to the next store.
They nicknamed Mahlon “Muls” because it sounded better to them.
Mahlon attended a different school in a different city, but he liked to hang out with Gilbert at his school whenever he visited the city.
When he learned of his new nickname given by the ladies, he thought it was cool and never denied it.
Most people use the nickname in his absence so as not to anger him.
The ladies proceeded to Greens Group Corporation’s store, which had high-class clothes with thick material.
They selected outfits that appealed to them and proceeded to the dressing room.
Each one chooses a different dressing room.
Anastasia’s dresses all had a zipper closure in the back.
She failed to close her zipper and decided to call Liz, who was in the next room.
When the room opened, she faced the other side, showing her back to the person who entered.
“Help me with the zip; I want to see how this dress will look on me; the material is on point,” Anna chuckles in her own words.
The person got closer and started to zip the dress.
Anna notices that the person smells nice and that his hands are different from Liz’s hands.
“If it’s not Liz, who might it be?” She wondered in confusion.
She turned her back to see the person who had zipped up her dress.
She was met with a smile, and his smile was on point.
